Kitchen renovations in existing homes are usually driven by a clogged layout, swollen cabinets, a cracked worktop, or ventilation that pushes cooking smells into the living room. In many Jakarta and Greater Jakarta homes, the kitchen has also become an unplanned storage zone, so cooking circulation gets tighter over time. MEETS delivers kitchen renovation through a per-m² catalogue package, then aligns the kitchen set, water, and power after survey. Service covers Jakarta, Jabodetabek, and other major Indonesian cities.
Indicative kitchen renovation rates: Standard Rp2.5 million/m², Premium Rp3.8 million/m², Signature Rp6 million/m². A 12 m² example at Standard is about Rp30 million for the room renovation scope (excl. VAT). Kitchen sets are priced separately per linear metre: Standard Rp5.4 million, Premium Rp6.4 million, Signature Rp7.7 million. A 4 linear metre Standard example is about Rp21.6 million. Final figures follow existing conditions, actual cabinet length, and specification after survey. Also compare the kitchen renovation cost guide for price drivers that commonly appear on site.
A good layout follows the work triangle between hob, sink, and fridge so cooking steps stay short and safe. In compact kitchens, an island is often dropped, a washing machine relocated, or a door moved so two people can pass without colliding. Survey measures usable width, column positions, shafts, and the exhaust route before drawings lock. Do not force a plan from another house or from social media without checking utilities and structure on your site.
Worktop and cabinet materials shape daily upkeep. Local granite, quartz, or other options differ in scratch and stain resistance. HPL cabinets are more affordable and quicker to install; duco looks more custom but needs care against scratches. Soft-close hinges and decent drawer hardware reduce early wear in a kitchen used every day. Choose specification by how often you cook, not only by a trendy door colour.
Exhaust and ventilation must be discussed when the kitchen opens to the dining or living room. In dense housing or a shophouse converted to a home, the exhaust route often conflicts with neighbours or facade rules. Power for ovens, rice cookers, microwaves, and extra points is often missed in early estimates. List appliances and rough loads so the BOQ does not drift mid-project. Water points for filters, dispensers, or a dishwasher should also be confirmed in the brief.
Programme length depends on area, strip-out depth, and whether wet walls or slabs need repair. Lived-in homes need a clear work zone so a temporary kitchen can still function, for example a dining corner or folding table outside the strip-out area. A firm schedule is set after survey, including the sequence of cabinet strip-out, utility works, kitchen-set install, then finishes. Large custom items such as granite worktops also affect the timeline.
Common issues: clogged sink drains, leaks under the sink, HPL cabinets swelling from steam, rotten plinths, and exhaust that cannot exit safely. Lasting fixes usually combine utility repairs with new finishes, not cabinet door swaps alone. If the kitchen borders a bathroom or laundry, survey also checks whether damp from another wet room is affecting the kitchen wall. If you only want a new kitchen set without changing floor tiles, say so in the brief so scope stays locked.
Tips before you talk: photograph the kitchen from several angles including the wet corner under the sink, roughly measure base cabinet length and ceiling height, note the style (minimal, Japandi, modern), and a rough budget. Record whether the kitchen is L-shaped, U-shaped, or linear, and whether a window must stay for daylight. Free site surveys apply in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek). Outside Jabodetabek, survey scheduling follows the early brief.
Storage often decides whether the kitchen feels open after renovation. Spice storage near the hob, deep drawers for pans, and tall units for dry goods reduce clutter on the worktop. In a narrow kitchen, cabinets to the ceiling usually help more than an island that steals circulation. Discuss how you shop and cook so the layout works in real life, not only on paper.
If you plan kitchen renovation together with a bathroom or dining area in one phase, say so early so material access and schedules do not clash. Sequencing work in an occupied home is easier than opening too many zones at once. MEETS can help prioritise rooms so budget and day-to-day comfort stay balanced.
Many owners compare kitchen prices only by cabinet length, yet the largest costs often sit in hidden work: repairing damp walls, relocating water points, strengthening supports for granite, or adjusting the ceiling for a new exhaust. That is why catalogue estimates are a starting point and lock after survey. The more complete your early photos and appliance list, the fewer surprises appear in the final quotation.
Light and colour also shape how comfortable cooking feels. A dark kitchen feels tighter even at the same floor area. Survey notes natural light direction, existing lighting points, and whether the backsplash needs a more stain-tolerant finish. Small decisions like these help the kitchen feel more open without adding building area.
After survey, the quotation separates or combines room renovation with the kitchen set as needed. Project payment follows down payment and physical progress; for kitchen-set components, the component payment scheme may apply as written in the contract. Structure warranty plus finishes and installations follow the same terms as MEETS home renovation. Full terms are on the terms page.
